New Plymouth
From the moment you step through the gate, there's an unmistakable sense that this is a home that has been cherished. Lovingly restored and impeccably maintained, Allens Cottage beautifully balances its rich early 1860s heritage with the comforts of modern living. Positioned in one of New Plymouth's most sought-after city locations, you'll enjoy the luxury of leaving the car at home, with Pukekura Park, cafes, restaurants and the CBD all within an easy stroll. Inside, the 163sqm (more-or-less) home unfolds with warmth and character. The original lounge provides a cosy retreat, while the striking rear extension introduces light, space and seamless connection to the manicured gardens. The recently renovated kitchen flows naturally into the dining area, creating a wonderful space for everyday living and entertaining. Continuing through the home, the ground floor also offers a double bedroom, family bathroom and separate laundry, while upstairs you'll discover a peaceful master retreat with a walk-in wardrobe, modern ensuite and elevated views stretching across the city to the port. An insulated and powered cottage-style outbuilding (consented as a storage shed), currently used as guest accommodation, also offers flexibility as a hobby room, studio or home office. Designed for comfort in every season, the home features double glazing throughout, two built-in gas fireplaces, two heat pumps and underfloor heating in the lounge extension. Outside, renowned landscape designer Mike Mansvelt has created gardens that perfectly complement the home. Manicured hedging, charming pathways and tranquil water features transform the flat 628sqm (more or less) section into a picturesque setting for relaxing and entertaining, complete with electric awnings for shade, a garden shed and single garage. Beautifully modernised while honouring its remarkable past, Allens Cottage is a home of genuine significance. Admired in magazines, featured on home tours and treasured by its owners for nearly three decades, it offers an opportunity that is as rare as it is unforgettable.
